Years of dirt built up at floor edges

Full refurbishment

The floor had been poorly maintained, with a lot of ingrained dirt and polish build up to be sanded off, and repairs to damaged blocks.

This is midway through the sanding process, here you can see the amount of build up at the edges of the floor. The edges are being sanded with 24 grit paper, working up to 80 grit paper to fully clean off the layers of built up dirt and polish.

Fully sanded, ready for sealing

The floor has been sanded with 24 grit, 40 grit, 60 grit and 80 grit papers, before being abraided with 100 grit pad on a rotary buffing machine.

Final coat of seal

The floor was sealed with 3 coats of GranGuard, which is a hard wearing, high gloss, solvent based seal.

This Granwood block floor laid in a basketweave pattern required the full sand and seal process.
